Personal Reflections - 4

Updated: Sep 21, 2021

“And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left.” Isaiah 30:40

This took place in 2014:

Many of you already know that we have big news. Over the last year or so, we have been working toward downsizing our work / home space and expenses. We have essentially disbanded our student library and much of Maggie’s teaching material. Some items have returned to our personal library, others have been sold and yet others have been given away. Our next milestone occurred during the second weekend of February. After weeks of preparation, we packed up the majority of our inventory and delivered it to its new home in Spokane. We will continue to sell books and seminars introducing people to the neurodevelopmental approach. At that time we have five products on our website. We now share links to where these products can be purchased.

As of July 1 Maggie’s work is totally online. During the school year she met with students online on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Her students access her help through Brain Training or conversational Spanish sessions as well as assessments. Some of these students are enrolled in Academy Northwest as well. Also, she supervises online work for Family Academy’s parent training class and Scientific Learning’s (through Family Academy) Fast ForWord and Reading Assistant. She strives to get more of the ANW teachers involved with online work, at least as an additional stream of earnings for them. (2020 - Many ANW Teachers are now offering online or hybrid classes.) We are transitioning our annual testing families to other ANW teachers, unless they choose to continue non-test assessments by video conferencing. In June we switched to meeting with students on Tuesday and Thursdays for Brain Training and Spanish, giving us another day each week to provide end of the year homeschool assessments as well as pre- Brain Training assessment. During the month of June Maggie assessed 46 students.

On July 19 we will load up a U-Haul and leave after church the next day. We have an apartment waiting for us in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Our main reasons for moving are to be closer to family and in a location that has a lower cost of living. We spent four days there last July. We were able to attend four different meetings / activities of Grace Baptist Church of Dewey, Oklahoma –and look forward to being a part of that fellowship of believers. (We now have been a part of this church for about 6 ½ years.) We now work with others who provide Brain Training for students I assess.

We ended our time in Washington, saying goodbye to friends and our home of nearly 40 years for Ronnie and 23 years for Maggie.
